Cheasty North Loop Grand Opening
By Yordanos Tesfazion
On Saturday, October 25, we celebrated the grand opening of the Cheasty Trails and Bike Park North Loop, marking the completion of Seattle’s first forested mountain biking and pedestrian trail pilot project.
The fall foliage served as a stunning backdrop as community members explored the trail. Mountain bikers pedaled their way through a cleared path in the forest, and many visited the booths of project partners who supported the vision of Friends of Cheasty Greenspace at Mountain View for over a decade.
The trail is designed with the safety of both mountain bikers and pedestrians in mind; project leads also ensured that the trail has minimal impact on the wetlands, steep slopes, and wildlife habitat in the greenspace.
“Seattle’s urban forests are treasures that connect people to nature right here in the heart of the city,” said AP Diaz, Superintendent of Seattle Parks and Recreation. “The Cheasty North Loop reflects the best of what happens when community members, nonprofits, and the city work together. We are proud to celebrate this milestone and look forward to seeing families and neighbors enjoy these trails for years to come.”
Thank you to the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods and City of Seattle, the Seattle Parks District, the community, and our partners with Friends of Cheasty Greenspace at Mountain View for supporting this trail project!
