Big Win for Garfield Super Block

Exciting news! Last month, our partners Garfield Super Block received a $3M state allocation to complete the public fundraising for their capital project in the Central District! This win was the result of their hard work and dedication, and it means they now have the funding to start the project in early 2025. On April 26, Representative Chipalo Street and Senator Rebecca Saldaña presented this funding to the Garfield Super Block team at a celebratory event at Garfield Community Center.
We still have about $1.3M left to raise privately for art funding, but this public funding is a massive win for the project.

We are grateful to Representatives Chipalo Street, Steve Tharinger, Sharon Tomiko Santos, and Senators Rebecca Saldaña, Mark Mullet, Yasmin Trudeau, and all their aides. Seattle City Councilmember Joy Hollingsworth, King County Councilmember Girmay Zahilay, and Seattle Parks and Recreation also added their support to the cause. Thank you!
The Garfield Super Block team worked tirelessly to secure this funding – and so did their community of volunteers, donors, and supporters. THANK YOU ALL for your efforts to ensure this public space renovation project will move forward.
