Westlake Park Project Updates and Community Meeting
Westlake Park is at the heart of Seattle’s downtown core and is an important gateway to the city. Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) and Seattle Parks Foundation (SPF) are working collaboratively to update the space by Spring 2026.
Join SPR and SPF for the next public meeting with project updates on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 5:00 to 6:00pm on the 4th floor of the Seaboard Building, 1500 4th Avenue, Seattle, WA 98101. If you cannot attend the meeting but would like information on the project, click here or email us at info@seattleparksfoundation.org.
Construction at Westlake Park is on schedule! The park will open prior to the World Cup’s arrival in Seattle. The park improvements have expanded to include the removal of the Seven Hills art sculpture located at the south end of the park. This art consists of seven sculptural elements, including a pink granite column and six cubic pieces, that symbolize the seven hills of Seattle. They are part of the City’s public art collection and were funded by Seattle Parks and Recreation Forward Thrust 1% for Art funds.
The removal will require additional fencing and closure around the south end of the park. The work to remove the sculptures will begin early to mid-February 2026. The art will be taken off site and stored by SPR with the plan to re-install it at a new location and at a later date. In its place at Westlake Park, the Coast Salish basketweave pattern tile will be extended to create a continuous design throughout the plaza.
