The Trees and People Coalition reaches out to Seattle communities and organizations to engage, educate, and advocate for the care and protection of urban trees in their neighborhoods. Trees are essential to our physical, mental, emotional, and environmental health.
We have several exciting projects planned for 2025, including:
* Trees for Seattle’s Future is a project designed to educate and engage young children, their families, and communities in Seattle that are disproportionately impacted by racial and environmental inequities. The project will raise awareness about the critical role of preserving and expanding the urban tree canopy in supporting healthy, livable neighborhoods.
* The Trees for Seattle Award is an annual program that recognizes architects, developers, and community groups who have successfully completed projects in Seattle that integrate trees with urban density.
* A public media campaign will raise awareness of the urgent need to preserve trees across Seattle. The campaign will include yard signs, flyers, advertisements, and other promotional materials.
* Canopies of Green and Affordable Housing is a video project that complements the original Canopies of Green Urban Density by focusing on affordable housing developments that preserve trees and allocate space for planting additional greenery on-site.
