The Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands located on the ancestral territories of the Duwamish Tribe and the Coast Salish Peoples. The dream of an urban farm originated with community residents and activists seeking to increase access to affordable quality food sources in the Rainier Beach Community and SE Seattle. The farm is an 8-acre site co-operated by the Friends of Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetlands and Tilth Alliance, and dedicated to organic food production and distribution, environmental education, and wetlands restoration.
We celebrate the diverse people and cultures of the Rainier Valley, collaborating with community to gain skill and knowledge in food production, and work toward achieving food justice and environmental justice. Our work on the farm includes hosting a no-cost community u-pick garden, sustaining access to RBUFW’s community greenhouse by local community farmers, supporting Tilth Alliance’s Youth Stewards program, and distributing fresh produce at Rainier Beach Action Coalition’s annual Back2School Bash. Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetlands aims to be a safe and welcoming space for all people.
