We aim to install two locally-designed, permanent art installations at Seattle’s Hutchinson Playground. There are two components to the project, as prioritized by the community; (1) nature-themed art to mark the north entryway to the park, impacting the identity and recognition of the park; and (2) a welcome sign in multiple languages reflecting the extraordinarily diverse neighborhood where the park is located.
This project aligns with a complete $4.3M renovation of Hutchinson Playground that is already underway. Plans for the park’s renovation include a new play structure, new courts (including basketball, pickleball and tennis), new playfields (including baseball and soccer), and new accessible entrances and pathways throughout the park. The 60% design will be completed in Q3 of 2024, with construction happening in 2025.
