Support This ProjectOne thousand pounds of garbage: old tires, rusty machines, and litter. That’s how much trash volunteers have removed from this park in northwest Seattle. The Friends of North Beach Park cherish this nine-acre forest getaway right in the middle of the city. They’ve logged more than 1,300 hours cleaning, weeding, planting, and mulching—doing what they can to make sure butterflies and beetles have food, the forest trees grow strong, and future generations have a lush park full of birdsong.
