Golden Gardens Park

We hold monthly work parties to restore the park’s forested slope by removing invasive weeds and planting native species.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

When Golden Gardens was built in 1907, it consisted of the beach and a forested slope divided by railroad tracks. These days, the beach attracts volleyballers, sunset watchers, kiteboarders, and weddings in the bathhouse. Above the beach is a forested slope that the Friends of Golden Gardens work to restore. Volunteer work parties are held every second Saturday of the month by GGREAT (Golden Gardens Reforestation and Trails) to remove invasive weeds and plant native species. This forest around the off-leash dog area has many trails and great views of the Olympics.
