Friends of the Burke-Gilman Trail

Friends of the Burke-Gilman Trail at Sand Point (FOBGT@SP) is a nonprofit, voluntary association whose purpose is to educate and engage the community in restoring and maintaining the native habitat along the Burke-Gilman Trail. We clear invasive non-native plants from the parkland surrounding the trail and establish a natural plant palette of native trees, shrubs, and understory plants.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

We work along both sides of the Burke-Gilman Trail and associated Green Spaces removing invasive plants and replanting with native trees, shrubs and understory plants. We also sponsor a monthly bird walk to see what effects we are having on the local bird population. We also work with local schools to educate children on the importance of nature in the city.
