Friends of 12th & Elmgrove

Improving and enhancing the site at 12th & Elmgrove so South Park residents can enjoy views of the Duwamish River.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The grassy triangle overlooking the Duwamish River at 12th and Elmgrove is a key point of public access to the river, as identified in the South Park Green Space Vision Plan. Seattle Public Utilities bought the upland portion for public use, and the Port of Seattle owns the waterside portion. The Friends of 12th & Elmgrove plan to improve this resting spot with seating, new plantings, and outdoor art.

South Park landscape architect Meredith Hall of Karen Kiest Landscape Architects led a design process with the community in 2016, funded by Plumb Level Square and Seattle Parks Foundation, in honor of South Park ally Becca Aue. Seattle Public Utilities is working with the Port of Seattle to explore ways to move this forward.
