Community Engagement for Food Equity

Dedicated to creating a more equitable and resilient food system. Based out of U-District, we connect aspiring volunteers to leaders in local food equity projects. We believe in the power of community, mutual aid & economies of abundance.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

We are a volunteer organization founded by undergraduate students of the Food Systems, Nutrition, and Health program at the University of Washington connecting our peers with the larger U-District & Seattle community to support food equity projects. Our main sites include UW Farm, Picardo P-Patch Giving Garden, and the Northeast Seattle Tool Library where we support seed libraries, host workshops by Tilth Alliance and other community educators, and organize seasonal seed(ling) swaps as part of our Seeds for Seattle Food Equity project. At these sites and others, including Teen Feed, Marra Farm, Beacon Hill, and local food pantries, we lead work parties to foster leadership & community engagement skills in new volunteers.
