Partner Orientation: A New Tradition is Born!
As a fiscal sponsor, we serve as a nonprofit umbrella that enables groups to grow their projects and achieve their missions. We provide an array of administrative, financial, fundraising, communications, and advocacy services so our fiscal partners can focus on the real work of benefiting people powered parks and public spaces. Since offering fiscal sponsorship in 2011, we have supported over 275 community projects and alliances throughout King County.
Last year, our inaugural Partner Advisory Council told us how helpful it would be if we offered an in-person orientation to help partners new and established understand our offerings. They told us it would be a welcome connection point with staff and other community members, while also introducing all that fiscal sponsorship means at Seattle Parks Foundation. Thanks to them, our first Partner Orientation was planned and took place in February 2024!
Partners were invited to meet our staff and other groups fiscally sponsored by SPF at an event focused on community building, clarifying roles and expectations, answering questions, and providing opportunities for networking and collaboration. Over the course of two hours, we introduced ourselves, our organization and projects, and how we collectively approach our work. We were so grateful for our partners’ enthusiasm and participation as we explored our respective Roles & Responsibilities and our members-only Partner Portal.
Our staff created several resources to support our partners as they navigate how our organization can support their projects, and we showcased many of them at the Partner Orientation. They range from new tutorial videos with topics like How to Read Donation and Donor Reports to an introduction to our donation platform, Classy, tips on donor outreach, and more.
Our goal was for our partners to leave the orientation feeling connected, informed, and enthusiastic about their involvement with Seattle Parks Foundation. We are excited to continue creating more resources and points of connection for our partners. And we can’t wait to host another orientation for our next group of new partners!
