Be’er Sheva Park Grand Re-Opening Celebration

Congratulations to the Be’er Sheva Park community! The beloved South Seattle park was celebrated with an incredible grand re-opening event on Saturday, April 13, 2024. With a ribbon-cutting ceremony, free BBQ, live performances, and giveaways, the neighborhood came out in force to cheer for the long-awaited arrival of THE BEACH in Rainier Beach!

Updates that were made to the park in this first phase of improvements include amenities that are standard in most of Seattle’s waterfront parks: a 30-by-150-foot beach with boardwalk, family picnic areas, performance stage, walking paths, a lawn, safety lighting, and fishing and kayaking access.

Our partners with the Link2Lake Steering Committee deserve a huge round of applause for their tireless work throughout Phase 1 of this improvement process. This committed neighborhood volunteer group exceeded all their volunteer matching goals and always put their community first, ensuring residents had direct input on the park design.

Link2Lake’s work isn’t over! Three new projects have been created out of their initial effort to improve Be’er Sheva Park:
Mapes Creek Engage and Discover
Recreating Henderson Corridor
Cultural Stage Committee
Thank you to our partners Link2Lake Steering Committee, Seattle Parks and Recreation, and all the dedicated friends and neighbors who put years of effort into making this park a space for relaxation, connection, and joy.
We’d also like to express our gratitude to the community of generous donors who supported this project. In addition to many private donors, a special thank you to Amazon, Cuyamaca Foundation, King County Finance and Business Operations Division, King County Flood Control District, Norcliffe Foundation, Pendleton and Elisabeth Carey Miller Charitable Foundation, Satterberg Foundation, Seattle Department of Neighborhoods, Seattle Office of Arts and Culture, Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, and 4Culture.
We’ll see you at THE BEACH!
