The West Duwamish Greenbelt Vision/Concept Plan will be accomplished by a team of professionals led by the Ridge to River (R2R) Executive Steering Committee (ESC), and is expected to unfold in stages over a three-year time period. Pacing will be a critical part of the planning process. The careful building of the first stage lays the foundation and will take time. The ESC envisions a five-part project:
1. Participant Engagement – multiple stages including: pre-planning strategy, landowner outreach, listening stage, concept stage and final rollout events and evaluation.
2. Environmental Site Analysis – high level assessment of subject properties guided by LiDAR topographic analysis.
3. Subproject development – Water quality testing and trail design/construction as engagement and protocol development tools.
4. Graphic media communication – representations of technical background information, data analyses, design concepts, etc. made accessible for non-technical audiences.
5. Leadership and Administration – solid background support of these activities to keep the project moving and productive.
