Revealing the forest at Stokes Overlook

Join us for a restoration work party at Judge Charles M. Stokes Overlook.

Behind a wall of brambles there is a forest at Judge Stokes Overlook. By cutting and pulling the ivy and blackberry we will gradually reveal the existing forest and make way for restoration of a diverse native ecosystem. Please come help us — all experience levels welcome! This is only our 3rd work day at this site. Our first two work days made great strides cutting into a large bank of brambles to reveal a living pine tree previously presumed deceased, and new ground where we can start envisioning a forest. We’ll continue cutting vines, digging out roots and piling debris. Expect mud, thorns, and camaraderie. Youth aged 12 and up are welcome. Youth under age 15 must have a signed waiver unless accompanied by parent or guardian. Potential volunteers under age 12 please hold off until we’ve completed more of the initial site prep.
