Upgrading Be’er Sheva Park with expanded lake access, new recreational amenities, better sightlines, restored wildlife habitat, and safety lighting.
Be’er Sheva Park is the lakefront park for the Rainier Beach neighborhood, but it does not meet the city’s standards for waterfront access. This project is shovel ready, with construction drawings completed and permits and city approvals obtained. The improvements envisioned for the park are the result of more than two years of community outreach and planning funded by matching grants from the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods and the Seattle Parks Foundation. The construction portion has yet to be funded.
Planned updates to the park include amenities that are standard in most of Seattle’s waterfront parks. They include a 30-by-150-foot beach with boardwalk, family picnic areas, walking paths, a lawn, safety lighting, salmon habitat restoration, and fishing and kayaking access.
Our steering committee is a large and committed neighborhood volunteer group that has exceeded all of its volunteer matching goals.
