Project Overview
Occidental Avenue South Street Improvements
Seattle Parks Foundation, the Alliance for Pioneer Square, partners, community stakeholders and the Seattle Department of Transportation are working with MIG urban design and engineers to create near term strategies and a long-term vision for the redevelopment of the Occidental Avenue South right-of-way between South King Street and South Royal Brougham Way. Our goal is to complete the near-term improvement project by Spring 2026 in advance of the World Cup 2026.
From sports games and events to neighborhood businesses and residents, Occidental Avenue South is a complex space that serves many functions for the neighborhood and public. This project seeks to build on the City’s 2015 vision for Occidental Avenue South, which envisioned a year-round promenade that prioritizes people and accommodates vehicular access to further integrate Occidental Ave South and the Stadium District with Pioneer Square and Downtown.

The goals of this project are to confirm the long-term vision and develop a phased approach for short-term tactical public improvements that can be executed prior to the 2026 World Cup.
