Support This ProjectThis project to build a new play area and outdoor entry plaza on the Orca K-8 property is intended to benefit the entire neighborhood as well as the school community. Bringing diverse neighbors together was the first step—and a vital aspect of the overall planning process. The finished design addresses several pressing needs of the Orca school community, including a confusing and uninviting entryway to the school grounds, a playground that does not serve the needs of a wide range of ages, from preschool through middle school, and a medically fragile student population that is underserved by the current site configuration. The design also takes into account the recreational needs of the surrounding community, where the nearest park is a half-mile away.
