Olympic Hills Community Pocket Park

Turning an unused city property into a pocket park for a neighborhood that craves shared outdoor space

Project Description

Lake City Greenways is a group of volunteer urban space visionaries who are working with Seattle’s Department of Transportation (SDOT) to remake an SDOT-owned street end in Lake City’s Olympic Hills neighborhood. They plan to turn the unused site at NE 133rd between 27th and 28th Avenues into a green space complete with restored wetlands and stream. Out will go invasive plants. In will come sitting rocks where people can take in the sound of gurgling Little Brook, a tributary of Thornton Creek.
