Lake Union Park Stewardship Fund

Funding landscaping and shoreline improvements at Lake Union Park, a unique urban gem that celebrates the cultural, maritime, and industrial heritage of the city and region

Project Description

Located at the south end of Lake Union on land deeded by the U.S. Navy, Lake Union Park connects visitors to Seattle’s rich maritime culture and history. It’s a place where you can set sail or sit by the water and take in the view. Construction followed a $20 million fundraising campaign, and the park was completed in 2010. In 2012, a private donor established a fund to encourage ongoing enhancements, which have included refurbishing the park’s planter boats. Additional donations will help pay for landscaping and shoreline improvements that are crucial to an area that is undergoing the kind of rapid growth that makes lawns, gardens, and shorelines even more important to the city and its residents.
