Magnuson Children’s Garden Project Update 2019
As the garden approaches its 20th anniversary, the Children’s Garden Committee has been on a mission to gather new design ideas from local children!
After surveying dozens of local children and listening carefully to all their garden dreams and wishes, we have a set of exciting design changes to begin implementing in 2020. First and foremost, we will be greatly expanding our food-growing in the Children’s Garden to include a new “Blueberry Hill” next to the existing Rolling Lawn, a new south entrance into the garden through a big “Raspberry Tunnel”, and a new walk-in “Snack House” filled with snap peas, pole beans and more, located next to the existing Log Pile building zone.
To top it all off, we’ll also be building a new “Sea Turtle Garden” that fits into the garden’s overall ocean and watershed theme, and will include a field of edible Sorrel (which kids call The Sour Lemon Candy Plant) on its back! All funds donated on #GivingTuesday will be used to make the kids’ garden dreams and wishes come true, and we appreciate your support!
