SUMMARY:Daybreak Star Community and Land Tending
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a restoration work party at Daybreak Star. \nWe welcome you to an embodied Community and Land Tending Day at Daybreak Star Cultural Center. Our work will be informed by our ongoing readings of “Sand Talk: How Indigenous Thinking Can Save the World” by Aboriginal scholar Tyson Yunkaporta of the Apalech Clan in Cape York\, Australia. \nThese gatherings are a return to land\, to care\, and to being in right relationship with one another. Guided by Indigenous leadership at United Indians of All Tribes Foundation\, we come together to practice food sovereignty\, cultural memory\, and collective care in ways that are grounded\, relational\, and real. This season\, we’re tending the Forest Garden\, which supports elders\, youth\, and Indigenous-centered community programs while helping grow a future rooted in reciprocity\, responsibility\, and long-term care. \nAll ages are welcome. You’re invited to come\, move your body\, tend the land\, be witnessed\, be in community\, and build relationships. If you’re looking for a place to show up and grow something lasting\, this is a space to gather\, care for the land\, and imagine what’s possible together. \nRegister

SUMMARY:Seattle: Mt. Baker Park
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a restoration work party at Mount Baker Park. \nJoin EarthCorps and Green Seattle Partnership as we work to create a healthier forest in Mt Baker Park! Mt. Baker Park is located along a green boulevard that heads down to a bathing beach on Lake Washington. Situated in a residential neighborhood\, this park has become a community gathering place where people enjoy the many amenities of this park as well as its urban forest. The forest of Mt. Baker Park is being threatened by plant species such as ivy and blackberry. These plants take over parts of the forest by overgrowing and choking native vegetation. Join us as we work to get these species under control and keep the native plants thriving! \nRegister to meet.

SUMMARY:Once Wild River: An Exhibition by Timothy White Eagle at Mini Mart City Park
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the opening of a multi-artist exhibition at Mini Mart City Park. \nOnce Wild River is a multi-artist exhibition by Timothy White Eagle\, presented at Mini Mart City Park from May 9 to June 21\, 2026 with an opening reception 4pm – 8pm May 9th. The exhibition marks the culmination of White Eagle’s year-long residency in the Green–Duwamish Watershed\, where he has been listening to the river—its wild past\, its constrained present\, and its uncertain future. \nAt the heart of Once Wild River is a quiet but insistent truth: the river will one day reclaim its wildness. Concrete is not forever. Steel is not permanent. It’s time to meet the river through the eyes of six primary collaborators working with Timothy White Eagle’s visionary practice. \nThrough photography\, sound art\, installation\, collage\, wild-crafted inks\, sculpture\, and community engagements\, the exhibition explores the tension between the living force of the Duwamish River and the harsh industrialization that reshapes it. The work explores many entry points into the river’s history and present\, including toxicity\, healing\, and possible futures. The works reflect on impermanence\, the illusion of control\, and the limits of human authority over land and water. \n“I made Once Wild River because the river is still here\, still moving\, still remembering\, despite everything we’ve done to try to contain it\,” says White Eagle. “This project is about listening to that persistence and honoring the life that refuses to disappear.” \nFeatured Artists\nTimothy White Eagle (Installation)\nAdrain Chesser (Photography)\nEpiphany Couch (Assemblage)\nLaura C. Wright (Inks+Collage)\nSarah Kavage (Sculpture)\nCrystal Cortez (Sound Installation)\nDuwamish Valley Youth Corps (Photocollage) \nAbout the Residency\nTimothy White Eagle is the Green-Duwamish Watershed Urban Waters Federal Partnership/Puget Sound Partnership Artist in Residence (AiR). Building from other federal efforts to incorporate arts to advance education\, outreach and implementation goals\, EPA’s Office of Water (OW) established an artist in residence pilot initiative to expand efforts to incorporate arts and culture into the EPA’s water place-based programs that support water restoration and natural hazard resilience. This innovative pilot program explores the dynamic intersection of art\, environmental stewardship and community engagement within the Duwamish and Lower Green River Watershed. \nThe AiR effort is funded by the US EPA through its engagement with the Puget Sound Partnership.* \nThe effort is supported locally by the Emerald Alliance and their Ambassador for the Green-Duwamish Urban Waters Federal Partnership (with fiscal sponsorship by Seattle Parks Foundation). \nMini Mart City Park is an arts-centered community space and pocket park that is also an active environmental remediation site. Mini Mart’s robust programming encompasses exhibition\, artist-in-residence\, film\, and performance in addition to expansive youth arts-and-environmental\neducation. \nLearn More
