Whitworth Elementary School Play Area
Location: 5215 46th Ave. So.
Seattle Parks Foundation converted one of the "worst play areas" in the city into a large, invigorating, imaginative space. The renovated play area is three times the size of the original and includes a variety of brightly colored play structures for young children. The area was designed collaboratively by students, teachers, and neighbors alike and is today utilized by hundreds of students and neighborhood youth.
Completed in 2002, the Whitworth Elementary play area was one of the Parks Foundation's first projects.
