Powell Barnett Park
Location: 352 Martin Luther King Jr WayIn 2006, Starbuck's wished to give Barnett Park in Seattle’s Central District an extreme makeover. They invited Seattle Parks Foundation to act as fiscal sponsor, and through their $100,000 donation transformed this public park and playground into a huge community asset.
Powell Barnett Park was clearly built with serious play in mind. With a children's play area, complex climbing structures, a wading pool in the summer, basketball hoops, and a broad field ideal for frisbee - there's something in the park for kids of all ages. There are benches and picnic table throughout the park, and ADA accessible restrooms in a wild castle-shaped building next to the play area.
Seattle Parks Foundation enables the donation of large private gifts that can be used to improve existing public parks and acquire new green spaces. Our solid reputation and partnership with the City of Seattle make the Parks Foundation a safe place for these contributions.
