Maple Elementary School Play Areas

Location: 4925 Corson Ave. So.

Seattle Parks Foundation completed two play area rennovations at Maple Elementary School in southeast Seattle. For the first "Exploration Area" we worked with kindergarten students and the community in 2001 to construct a new play area for the youngest children at the schooll and the community. The play area is now safer, ADA accessible, and more fun!

After completing the first playground, Seattle Parks Foundation began working with community members and neighborhood children in 2002 to design and develop a second, larger play area. This new project redesigned and rebuilt the play area used by 1st through 6th grade students at Maple Elementary. After school hours, the play area serves as a community gathering space for children and adults alike. The new design is not only vibrant, fun, and exciting to children's imaginations, it is also safer and ADA accessible.
