With 200 parks covering 26,000 acres and 175 miles of regional trails connecting all corners of the county, King County Parks protects the natural areas and recreational opportunities that contribute to our region’s high quality of life. Unparalleled in diversity and expanse for an urban parks system, King County Parks offers backcountry wilderness for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, kayaking, paragliding, as well as ballfields, playgrounds, and picnic shelters connected by a network of regional trails, all just minutes away from your home.
Leave a Legacy
One hallmark of a vibrant and healthy parks system is the support and commitment from the community and private sector. You can leave a legacy of forested trails, high-quality ballfields, and public open spaces by making a gift to the King County Parks Legacy Fund. Your gift to the King County Parks Legacy Fund helps operate, maintain and expand our nationally-recognized parks system now and for the future.
Plan a visit to your big backyard
With more than 3,100 acres of natural lands and 36 miles of hiking and equestrian trails, Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park is truly a regional treasure, preserving an important part of our region’s ecological and cultural heritage.
One of the most visited parks in the region, Marymoor Park is home to a much loved off-leash dog park, top-quality ballfields, the region’s only velodrome, 300 acres of natural habitat along Lake Sammamish and the Sammamish River, and venues that host a range of artists and events, from Alison Krauss and Wilco to Cirque de Soleil and Movies@Marymoor.
The Sammamish River Trail offers a scenic 11-mile paved path dedicated to walking, cycling, and skating. The Sammamish River Trail is part of a 44-mile trail network connecting Puget Sound in Seattle to the Cascade Foothills in Issaquah via the Burke-Gilman Trail, the Sammamish River Trail, the Marymoor Connector Trail, the East Lake Sammamish Trail, and the Issaquah-Preston Trail.
