Jackson Park Trail

Location: 1100 NE 135th St.

Two hundred acres strong, Jackson Park is the largest green space in NE Seattle and is almost entirely dedicated to a single purpose – golf. Seattle Parks Foundation included the Jackson Park Trail in our Bands of Green Report, and presented the idea of a perimeter trail to NE Seattle Neighbors in 2007.

As a result, Friends of Jackson Park Trail (FJPT) and Seattle Parks Foundation partnered to develop a master plan for a 4-mile trail to outline the park. FJPT and Larson Casteel have completed their Neighborhood Matching Fund project and the final report of the community’s priorities for the next steps in further design and construction of the trail. The Parks Foundation served as the project's fiscal sponsor.

Now FJPT has $697,000 of Parks funding -- a Multi Purpose Limited Tax General Obligation Debt for Planning, Design and Construction - to construct the trail.  Seattle Parks and Recreation's Senior Landscape Architect, R. Frank Robinson is leading the perimeter trail project.
