Cheshiahud Lake Union Loop

Location: Lake Union

Seattle Parks Foundation is working with Seattle's Department of Transportation and Seattle Parks and Recreation to build a new 6.2-mile multi-use path around Lake Union. The new loop will be a safe, continuous, and landscaped pedestrian and recreational bicycle route that will join existing path segments and improve waterways and street-ends.  The Cheshiahud Loop (pronounced "CHESS-eeah-hood") will also provide an appealing route for celebrating Seattle’s rich maritime, industrial, Native American, and natural history, including interpretive signs spaced along the route.

The City of Seattle included $1.6 million in its 2009 budget for the Cheshiahud Lake Union Loop, and already initial improvements have been made including sections along Westlake approaching the Fremont Bridge, a connection through Peace Park to the University Bridge, signage, and general striping.

The Cheshiahud Lake Union Loop Master Plan has now been completed, and will guide the development of pocket parks and route sections as funding is available. Currently a list of priorities is being developed by the City and Seattle Parks Foundation. View the Master Plan here (19MB pdf) >
