Advocacy
Seattle Parks Foundation is committed to improving, expanding, and creating parks, trails and green spaces across Seattle. One of our strongest tools in doing this is advocacy. We work with groups and individuals across the city to advocate for parks and green spaces in a variety of ways. We have worked on issues ranging from the 2008 Parks for All Levy to our current work advocating for full implementation of the Cheshiahud Loop, funding for development of the Lake to Bay Loop, and for the creation of green space on the Central Waterfront. Visit this page regularly to learn more about our advocacy efforts and current campaigns.

The Seattle Parks Foundation and our partners realize the vital importance of coming together to solve this problem. The report Sustaining Seattle’s Parks: A Study of Alternative Strategies to Support Operations and Maintenance of a Great Urban Parks System, prepared for Seattle Parks Foundation and seven nonprofit partners, identifies the problems facing Seattle’s Parks and outlines a range of potential solutions based on a nationwide review of best practices. Upcoming Public Meetings:
Seattle Parks & Recreation Budget Meetings
In preparation for the 2012 budget process, Seattle City Councilmember Jean Godden (Budget Committee Chair) is hosting three public meetings which will help shape the future of the Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation.
The first public meeting took place on May 3rd and there was a great turnout. There will be additional public meetings about the Parks Budget, the times and locations of which we will post soon.
Thank you very much for your support of Seattle’s parks!
